Joel Kim Booster

JOEL KIM BOOSTER is a Chicago bred, Brooklyn-based comedian and writer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Joel was adopted at a young age and moved to the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Both home schooled and evangelical, Joel has read the bible literally dozens of times, but has no idea where the state of Oregon is on a map.

As a comedian, he has performed at numerous comedy clubs, bar basements and festivals all across the country. Most recently and notably, he was featured at The Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Joel has also performed at Stand Up NY and Gotham Comedy Club in New York City and the Laugh Factory and Zanies in Chicago. Paper Magazine recently called him one of their "10 Comedians You Need to Know," saying that if you like "cats, hot men, and insecurity, then you'll love Joel Kim Booster." Joel contends that even if your interests go beyond these three things, you might still enjoy his comedy.

As a writer, Joel works mainly for the stage, and for very little money. His world premiere collaboration with The New Colony, Kate and Sam Are Not Breaking Up, opened in fall of 2013 in Chicago to critical acclaim and garnered a non-equity Jeff Award nomination for Best New Work. The play has been had both East and West Coast premieres, a Canadian production, and is currently available to purchase via Chicago Dramaworks.

Joel has performed at numerous comedy clubs, bar basements and festivals all across the country. Most recently and notably, he was featured at The Bridgetown Comedy Festival. He has also played the lead in the films "Pillows" and "They Call it Puppy Love."
