Elaine Kao

Elaine Kao is a rare breed who actually is a native of Los Angeles. Upon graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Economics from UC Irvine, she entered the money-making world of theatre when she was asked to perform with Hereandnow Theatre Company, a touring theatre company which produces original work based on personal and community issues. Elaine then went on to earn her MFA in Acting from CalArts. Since then, she has performed at the Cleveland Playhouse, East West Players, South Coast Repertory, the Met Theatre, and is a member of Lodestone Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles.
Elaine has continued to work steadily in theatre, television, and film playing varied roles ranging from a ball-busting power-hungry exec in "Terminus Americana" to a necrophiliac bird scientist in "American Monsters." Her television guest credits include "Six Feet Under," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Grey’s Anatomy," "Entourage," "The Closer" and a recurring role in JJ Abrams' 2005 ABC pilot, "The Catch." Elaine starred in the indie feature "Red Doors" which took prizes at the TriBeca Film Festival and the CineVegas Film Festival. An Asian-American ensemble piece "Red Doors" is currently in development with CBS and Paramount as a one-hour series.
Elaine is fluent in Mandarin Chinese
