charlie mccrackin
Charlie is a writer, actor, and comedian best known for his role as Coach Novak on A.P. Bio.
Growing up in the northwoods of Wisconsin, Charlie had an adventurous, outdoorsy upbringing which included summers on the lake, trophy deer hunting, a state football championship, and about half a dozen broken bones. Dissatisfied driving a forklift for a living, Charlie moved to Chicago to study comedy at Second City, where he was hired as an understudy, the iO Theater, where he performed with the critically acclaimed and long-running improv group, The Reckoning, and The Annoyance Theater, where he wrote the book and script for The Raven & The Messenger, a musical comedy about the early days of cult leader Jim Jones.
Other Chicago highlights included marrying, having children, a career as an advertising copywriter, and of course, the Bean.
Soon after moving to L.A. Charlie was cast as Coach Novak in A.P. Bio (NBC), and when the show was picked up to series, he was staffed as a writer as well. Charlie has written for all three subsequent seasons of A.P. Bio as an executive story editor, earning writing credit for one script and co-credits for two more.
You can see him currently as Coach Novak on seasons 1-3 of A.P. Bio on Peacock, and you can hear him as his alter ego Spintax the Green, appearing on the popular podcast Hello from the Magic Tavern, or on the less popular but far superior spin-off podcast I AM SPINTAX, THE PODCAST trapped behind the paywall on Stitcher Premium.
